Add discount or tax amount

Enter dollar amounts from your agreement or local tax rules. This tool does not determine what is taxable.

Estimated invoice total$0.00
Paste it into an email or draft invoice.

This is an estimate, not a sent invoice. Confirm rates, expenses, taxes, and payment terms before billing a client.

Example: two rates on one invoice

Suppose you billed 8.5 hours of design work at $75 per hour and 2 hours of revisions at $100 per hour. Your client also agreed to reimburse a $48 expense and receive a $25 discount. Enter each rate as a separate work row so the charges stay clear.

Worked hourly invoice estimate in US dollars
ItemCalculationAmount
Design work8.5 hours × $75$637.50
Revisions2 hours × $100$200.00
Agreed expense—$48.00
Discount—−$25.00
Estimated total before any tax$860.50

This example leaves out tax. If you need to add tax, enter the dollar amount after checking what applies to your invoice.

How to calculate your total

Multiply the hours by the rate for each task, then add those line totals. Add expenses your client agreed to reimburse, subtract any agreed dollar discount, and add any tax amount you determine applies. The calculator does not decide which charges are taxable.

Before you send it

  • Check each task's hours, rate, and date against your time records.
  • Describe each charge and keep receipts for reimbursable expenses.
  • Confirm the due date, payment instructions, discount, and any tax before billing.
